  • Fitness Exercise Routine

There are many people out there who are trying desperately to lose weight both for health reasons and for aesthetic reasons. No matter what your reason is, you should know the facts. Crash diets don’t work in the long term and diet pills are not going to help you lose all the weight you want to lose. Studies show that people who change their diet and have a fitness exercise routine that they follow on a daily basis lose more weight and keep it off in the long term. If this sounds like something you want to happen, consider starting a fitness exercise routine.

Many people want to know if they have to pay an expensive personal trainer to get a good routine. The answer is, no. There are many websites available online that will give you a fitness exercise routine depending on your current activity level. A good fitness routine will have cardio and weight training elements as well as a diet guide for foods you should eat and foods you should avoid.

The most successful way to lose weight and keep the weight off is to make a lifestyle change that will leave you eating healthier and being more active on a daily basis. Whether it’s walking up stairs instead of using the elevator or walking on your lunch break, any little bit helps. When it comes to losing weight, you must burn more calories than you consume every day. Increasing your activity level and decreasing the amount of calories consumed will help you start losing weight right away. If results are what you are looking for, look for a fitness routine that will fit in your life.

    Medical Insurance for College Students

One of the things often found at the bottom of the list of priorities when budgeting for a college career is health insurance for college students. At that age, health insurance is the last thing on a student’s mind. When you are in your 20’s you will generally tend to think that you will live forever so naturally you will never become ill.

However, no matter how well an individual may seem, it is no guarantee of their future health. An affordable student health insurance plan isn’t a good plan, it is a necessity.

For students who are lucky enough included in their parent’s policy, virtually all of them will include a student up to their twenty-third birthday. For individuals who don’t currently have insurance cover on their parent’s policy, a fundamental part of preparation for school has to be getting inexpensive medical insurance. What’s important in medical insurance aimed at college students? So what’s a deductible? A deductible is basically a yearly payment that has to be made before your medical benefits begin, much the same as an auto deductible. For example, if the deductible is $500, you will have to pay that amount before getting any payment associated with your plan.

So what is a co-pay? When the deductible is paid, nearly all health insurance plans require that you contribute a percentage of the bill for every doctor’s visit, medicinal drug or procedure. This, in a nutshell, is a co-pay. What’s your area of cover? Numerous insurance policies do include HMO and Partnership for Prescription Assistance. Essentially this means particular doctors might be excluded from your list of health providers or not be included by the medical insurance plan. A detailed list of participating health professionals are provided with virtually all insurance plans, so ensure to take this into consideration when you pick out health insurance.

What is catastrophic coverage? Limitations are commonplace in student medical insurance policies in particular concerning critical illness, the cover extended in virtually all student medical insurance is generally less than a regular policy. Limitations: Student health insurance plans may put in place certain limitations. It is very important to read over any policy thoroughly to check out precisely what may and may not be covered. Carry all of your medical insurance documentation nearby no matter where you travel. It’s not only not possible to plan for accidents or illness, but they are regrettably likely to happen when you do not anticipate them. Acquaint yourself with the ins and outs of your policy even should you be covered by your family insurance plan.

America Needs an Education Reinvention Bill NOW!

In order to build a stronger, more self-sufficient America, America must first be willing to change. To build a progressive and competitive society, America’s most important challenge is to change its antiquated educational system. In every political administration, education must be first and foremost. Without a strong and revitalized educational system, America will never progress to greatness nor be able to alleviate any of our other ills.

The three R’s - reading, ‘riting, and ‘rithmetic - is how our children have been taught since the beginning of time. But we’re now in the twenty-first century, and we have a responsibility to our children, to America’s future, to educate tomorrow’s leaders and teach future generations the skills they need so they can survive in a world that is becoming increasingly more difficult to survive in.

Today’s youth are not like yesteryear’s innocents. There are no more shows like Leave It To Beaver or Father Knows Best. Instead, we have accepted the censors lack of discretion where our children (and adults) are concerned by inundating the airwaves with swear words never before heard on television. It has become part of our children’s language, and school teachers cannot do anything about it because the media has dictated that freedom of speech, of any speech, is the accepted norm, the right of all Americans, no matter their age. How could it be bad, many ask? They hear it everyday on TV. If it was bad, it wouldn’t be allowed into our living room. The news programs have become more graphic, verbally and visually, educating our children more in the ways of adult themes and topics, like never before. And our morals have changed for the worse as our children are taught that their sexuality begins at an earlier age, and it is an important and exciting part of their lives.

Today, our children’s rite of passage precedes their concept of right or wrong. Along with that open education, computers and the information highway, our children are more intelligent, more worldly, and older than children of similar ages were decades ago. Since we can’t go back in time, although many adults wish we could, we need to treat our children as the young adults they have been forced to become. Consequently, America has to drastically reinvent its schools. Teacher tenure should be abolished in that this reward is irresponsible to the family and the consumer. If someone is doing an inadequate job then that employee should be monitored, and, if need be, replaced. No contract, like the rest of America’s workplace, should be lifetime. This would ensure quality education.

America must do away with the law that its children can quit school at sixteen. All children must stay in school until graduation; if not public, then in vo-tech schools learning a trade. The excuse that a child must go to work at sixteen to help support their family does irreparable damage to the future of the child being forced to be his family’s provider. Staying in school until graduation will break the chain of poverty, and, with it, crime and welfare will greatly diminish.

The school day must be longer. America is in last place in first world education. There is no reason why the school day must only be (approximately) six hours long. By increasing lunch by ten minutes (so our children don’t have to wolf down their food), and by adding another five minutes for passing to one extra class, and forty-five-minutes for that class, our school day will be only one-hour longer. This would make a big difference in the quantity of education our children.

But, it’s quality we must have for our children to rise to their true potential. To achieve that goal, American schools must incorporate into their present curriculum new Life Studies courses to prepare our children for the world in which they are becoming an integral part. Within partnership with the fifty state universities and state public education commissioners, along with noted educational psychologists and sociologists, a Master of Science Degree would be offered in part scholarship to already certified teachers.

American schools must add these Life Study courses and stay open an hour longer each day if America wants to be a competitive force in the twenty-first century.

This Education Reinvention Bill would help working parents, especially single mothers, in that their child will in school an hour longer everyday, costing them less in day care, thus receiving more in salary to help the family, therefore more taxes paid to the government on salaries and durable goods. This is financially greater than the tax refund that has been gratuitously given to America’s middle class.

On the elementary level, classes in creative writing, confidence and self-esteem, manners and etiquette, ecology and the environment, safety, and the new 3R’s (respect, responsibility, and reward) would be added to the yearly curriculum; one course for each grade level.

On the intermediate level, students would be required to take yearly courses in money management, interpersonal communications, and social awareness (which would include a cooperative commitment in volunteerism).

High school students would study one course in each of their eight semesters in career development, comparative cultures and religions, philosophy, ethics and morality, analytical and deductive reasoning, persuasive speaking, colleges, and parenthood.

The cost of educating these teachers and creating jobs for them in every public school sector would be repaid when the first graduating class enters mainstream America. With mandatory student graduation, the cost for this new educational system will be repaid with the money saved on law enforcement and a consistently reduced welfare system, along with more people in the work place paying taxes and generating money in American commerce.

The Education Reinvention Bill is not just imperative for our children’s success, but for our country’s survival. There is a lot America must do to change for the better and again be a respected force in today’s world. Education reform is just one of many ways we can accomplish that goal.

It is also the most important one.

    UK Elections on the Horizon

With elections on the horizon and Blair looking tired and increasingly defensive, just what is likely outcome of the next election? The New Labour adoption of Tory plans and policies has created an almost parallel party in terms of the Conservatives and Labour. Many people are confused and find it hard to tell them apart. The Labour Party will struggle to retain the loyalties of the staunch labour support it has enjoyed over the decades.

The wind of change is in the air. Does this mean that the defeat of labour is a foregone conclusion in the next election? Far from it - the Labour Party, whilst certainly experiencing a rapid decline in popularity is far from defeated. They are still likely to win the next election - but a week is a long time in politics.

Labour candidates will admit that Blair’s popularity is well down on previous levels prior to the Iraqi war. The recent doubts over the proposed new terror laws allowing suspects to be detained without trial has not helped. The accusations and continued exchanges between Tory and Labour over the NHS have not helped matters, any more than Blair’s attempts to win over the people with his misguided Television fiasco.

The Labour party have acted like true blue Tories in many respects. The very rich have got much richer under Labour. The gap between rich and poor, normally associated with a Tory government is very obvious under New Labour. People have noticed this. Old long term Labour supporters and their loyalty towards the Labour Party is starting to crumble.

Looking back over the last few months it is difficult to see what Labour have managed to get right. The National Education Targets for raising standards in our schools have been all but abandoned as Labour realise that this is neither an election winner or remotely likely of ever being achieved. The Iraqi war continues to be as unpopular as ever and with little chance of any quick fix. Leading up to the next election the bitterness between Tory and Labour leaders is likely to get worse rather than better.

Labour promised a better NHS and an improved education system. After years of Labour, the general perception is that nothing has changed. If anything it has got worse. These are serious issues for the Labour government that will cost them dearly in terms of votes. This election could be a close run thing after all.

So what is wrong with Britain? What are the big issues? Crime is still seen as a big problem in the UK. The NHS is in a mess. In some hospitals the number of nurses from overseas outnumber those from the UK. Our public transport is amongst the most dangerous and expensive in the world, the rich get richer, the minimum wages stay pitifully low and the number of immigrants show no real signs of decreasing in any great numbers. The immigration issue is already a political hot potato which will cost Blair even more votes.

So, who will you vote for when the time comes? If you stay at home then you can’t complain about who wins - Voting at least gives you that right!

The Origins of the Iraq Civil War - A Joke

The immense carnage of WWI was caused by one gunshot in Yugoslavia, “The shot heard round the world.” The Apocalypse, the sudden violent end of life on Earth forever has now been set in motion by a cartoon.

Prior to 911, how many Americans knew where Afghanistan was? Today, Feb. 23, 2006, how many Americans know the difference between a Shiite and a Sunni Muslim? The cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad triggered a world wide Muslim stampede which is now escalating into an Iraqi civil war between the Shi’a and the Sunni Muslims, and the Christian Americans are caught right in the middle of it. If the Sunnis win, then they will free Saddam Hussein, and he will likely go into exile with his Swiss Oil Billions in a friendly Muslim country, until his triumphant return to power in Iraq, as did the Ayatollah returning to replace the American Iranian puppet the Shah of Iran. Had George Bush spent 3 cents on 1 bullet and executed Saddam in his rabbit hole, this never would have happened. Imagine Scott Peterson coming into court in his underwear, constantly standing up and calling the Judge a puppet of the Americans, and winning. Saddam Hussein has got to be laughing his head off at George Bush right now, Mr. “Mission Accomplished.”, the son of his father Abu George, Mr. “Read my lips, no new taxes.” Unfortunately the Democrats are such weaklings, like Hubert Humphrey Dumptey and Walter Mondale that they can’t knock out the Republican Party that has already knocked itself out on the domestic and world stage, plunging America into bankruptcy and making it the black sheep of the World. Don’t worry because soon it will all be over.

Earthlings are the laughing stock, the comedy channel of the Universe. Many Americans today are wondering why the Bushes, whose oil company was financed by the Bin Laden family and who sit on the board of directors of their puppets the Saudi Royal family are now selling the American ports to the Muslim United Arab Emirates. The question is, “Who is pulling whose strings?” The House of Saud is obviously funneling billions into the Bushes Swiss bank accounts for keeping them in power and safe from Osama Bin Laden, the well known video star. Video did not kill the radio star. To say this is to blaspheme Howard Stern. Yeshua aka Joshua aka Jesus aka South Park Jesus was a Jewish Rabbi with a black hat and a black coat and long sideburns aka pais who created the Universe and everything in it, according to 2,000,000,000 Christians. 1,000,000,000 Christians believe that the successor to Joshua Goldstein was Peter aka The Pope aka His Holiness “Mr. Infallible”, Mr. incapable of error. Another 1,000,000,000 Christians don’t believe this. This disagreement over the successor to Jesus has led to countless wars and murders and raping and pillaging of innocent Christian men, women and children. It is so easy to see insanity in others but impossible to see it in ourselves. Yesterday my friend Isabelle attended a Hermes scarf club luncheon. One woman brought 30 of her 400 $500 Hermes scarves for show and tell. The Hermes head scarf is $5,000. The female Miami stevedores love their new uniform, burkas. The Jebusites and the Hittites are making a comeback at Disneyworld, which was recently purchased by the House of Saud aka the BarbJennaBush Development Corporation. Who needs screenwriters when truth is stranger than fiction?

So, what separates Sunni Muslims from Shiite Muslims other than their battle for the power, control and oil of Iraq? Well, the Prophet Muhammad lived about 1,400 years ago on a planet 5 billion years old with human skeletons named Lucy 4 million years old. A Prophet is a person, like Joshua Goldfarb, who speaks to God and gets the game plan. Today he would either be a schizophrenic undergoing electro shock therapy and a lobotomy or a best selling author. The Prophet Muhammad could not read or write, and he did not speak directly to God of Mount Sinai, aka Allah, God the Father, The Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, Adonai, Yehovah, Elohim, Hashem, etc. Instead he spoke to the same Angel Gabriel who brought the good news to the Virgin Mary aka Mirriam Goldstein that God the Father had impregnated her with his Holy Spirit and she was about to give birth to the Messiah immaculately.

The Prophet Muhammad had a scribe, and he dictated his prophecies to the scribe and 50 years after the Prophet died the Muslim Bible Writers came up with the Muslim Holy Scriptures: The Hebrew Old Testament, The Christian New Testament and the Koran. Perhaps they did not notice that in the Old Testament it says that the Messiah will kill every non Jew and the Christian New Testament says that the Messiah will kill every non Christian upon his arrival on a flying white horse from Heaven.

So, what separates Sunni Muslims from Shiite Muslims? God of Mount Sinai, in his very first commandment carved by Him personally in stone says, “Do not worship, bow down to or idolize or revere anyone on Earth.” The Muslims revere the Prophet Muhammad as the Christians revere the Prophet Jesus as the Jews revere Knicks tickets and corned beef sandwiches on rye with kimel, Jesus’ favorite dish. The Prophet Muhammad had a son in law named Ali ibn Abi Talib aka Imam Ali. The Shiites believe that he was the leader of Islam after Muhammad, the proper successor to Muhammad, and follow his heirs. The Sunnis do not. They believe that the true successor of Muhammad was his lieutenant Abu (father of) Baker. Bob Dole is a UAE port lobbyist. Prior to Jesus usurping power from the Roman Gods and Goddesses upon his election as God at the Council of Nicaea 300 years after his death, the Roman Empire and the Greek Empire worshipped their own Gods and Goddesses including the Greek Goddess of Love Aphrodite renamed Venus by the Romans. I’m your Venus, I’m your fire, I’m your desire.

In the fairy tale, Uranus was castrated by his son Cronus. Jesus, the Prince of Peace says, “I have not come to bring you Peace, but the sword, to turn son against father..”. Uranus’ severed testicles fell into the sea and fertilized the ocean water which began to bubble and from the concoction was born an 18 year old naked Goddess Aphrodite. Venus was painted by Sandro Boticelli. You can pick the painting up on eBay for $325 million. They do accept Pay Pal. Jesus stars in his own cable show “Jesus and Pals” on South Fork. The New Testament does not contain one word of description of Jesus yet his likeness appears on the cross in every Catholic Church to scare the Hell out of every Catholic child. Jesus never said the word Hell in his life. Every time he says Sheol or Gehenna in the Holy Bible the modern Bible Writers substitute the word Hell to scare the Hell out of every Christian child. Fear and guilt are the classic brainwashing techniques. Gehenna was where the Jewish and non Jewish people sacrificed their first born children alive on fire altars 2,500 years ago just south of Jerusalem. Sheol was the place underground where both the good and the bad spirits went to live together after death according to Jesus Christ in the original Greek manuscripts of the New Testament.

According to the Shi’a Muslims depictions of Muhammad are verboten. According to the Sunni Muslims they are allowed. This controversy stirred up by the cartoon is the root of the now exploding Iraq civil war. Cartoons are a form of art as old as hieroglyphics and paintings by our ancestors on cave walls. After the last American Civil War there were cartoons of carpetbaggers being hung from trees and donkeys branded with the emblem KKK. The triple K’s were disgruntled Americans from the southern states numbering in the millions who crucified blacks, Jews and Catholics and set the crosses on fire less than 200 years ago. Our ancestors were sadistic and masochistic freaks and we are their clones. Don’t worry because soon it will all be over.

The only thing on Earth that sells better then sex is the right to commit murder and the Religions have the market cornered. Islam rewards the murder of Christians and Jews with eternal paradise in Heaven with God and 72 virgins, crystal clear springs and unlimited wine with no side effects. (Koran Sura 9:29-30). Jesus is soon returning to throw all of the non Christians into the fire and to Rapture the Christians into Paradise for doing this for him. (Matthew 13:36-43). The Jewish Messiah is coming soon to smash every non believer into a million pieces like a potter’s vessel and conquer the world for the Jews. (Psalm 2). Every single nuclear scientist knows that nuclear world war III and its aftermath nuclear winter then ultraviolet summer will have zero survivors. The only way for us to survive is through world peace. The Temple of Love - The World Peace Religion, makes Peace among and unites Christianity, Islam, Judaism and everyone else by tying them together with their common threads and resolving all of their differences once and for all. The problem is that selling Peace to bloodthirsty Earthlings massacring innocent children because fairy tales command them to is like trying to teach great white sharks not to eat fish. At least they don’t eat pork.

Democrats AND Republicans (For The Most Part) Want The “Nanny State” To Save Us

Its remarkable when the liberal infestation in our government makes itself so clear that no one can deny it. Sure the infestation is so pronounced on the Democratic side of the isle that it is hard to ignore but we also have to stand up and take note when the Republicans (often mislabeled “conservatives”) also show how liberal they really are too for the most part. They might not be as far down the dark path to socialism and unconstitutional government as the Democratic Party, but they are not that far behind.

This past week former FEMA chief Michael D. Brown was in the hot seat on Capital Hill taking it from all sides over Katrina. You have so-called Senators like Norm Coleman (R) Minnesota saying of Mr. Brown

“You’re not prepared to put a mirror in front of your face and recognize your own inadequacies”

    and

“Perhaps you may get a more sympathetic hearing if you had a willingness to confess your own sins in this.”

Excuse me Mr. Coleman - I’d call you “Senator” but I seriously wonder if you are worth of that title with this political kowtowing. Mr. Brown and the entire administration have claimed they could have done things differently and perhaps better. But the one issue that was never really spoken was was it their role in the first place? I’m still waiting, to this day, despite asking many times, to have someone, anyone point out to me where in Article I of the United States Constitution the federal government is supposed to even have an agency like FEMA!

I can however find CLEARLY in the Constitution a section that says “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” It’s Amendment X in case you can’t find it yourself.

So, the Federal Government is not supposed to be a source of “disaster relief” because it isn’t a “power” delegated to it. That means that it is the state and local governments, along with the people that are to handle this.

Mr. Brown gave it good to the so-called representatives. In response to Mr. Coleman he stood up and said

“That’s very easy for you to say sitting behind that dais and not being there in the middle of that disaster watching that human suffering and watching those people dying and trying to deal with those structural dysfunctionalities, even within the federal government.”

It’s true. And it is symptomatic of most of the problems with Washington and the federal government. They sit in Washington and tell people what is and is not good for them and then they scold anyone that they think hasn’t done what they think is good for them.

Brown also came under fire for lack of buses to get the people trapped in New Orleans at the Super Dome out. What? Why did they need buses? The city had a whole parking lot full of them! The pictures don’t lie.

What is troubling in all this is the focus being put on the federal government as the nanny state and not years by local and state officials who ignored the problems they were well aware of. Those problems were that if a big enough hurricane hit New Orleans the city would be flooded and people would get hurt. Those problems were that these same local officials knew well in advance that there was a massive storm coming. Those problems were that these officials sat on their hands and let busses sit idle while their constituents were in danger. Those problems were that everyone kept waiting for the federal government to do something - any thing. Those problems are that to this day people still do not recognize the proper role of the federal, state and local governments and are still looking to the federal government to “do something”, create a bigger government bureaucracy and give so-called Senators something to rant about.

All while Mayor Ray Nagin and Governor Blanco sit around with flooded busses that they themselves failed to use and will probably be re-elected when the time comes. We must recognize the problem, which is that there are a great many people in this great nation that don’t want to accept their own roles in this Republic. And until we do this nation will continue to slide ever to the left politically as more and more people look to the federal government to “save them” from their own failure to act with a large and lumbering bureaucracy that cannot possibly do so.

    The Blessing of Society

“Society in every state is a blessing…”

    – Thomas Paine, Common Sense

    What of value?

Interaction among human beings has provided us each with unique, fulfilling experiences, fond memories, and satisfied desires. When humans gathered together to share their culture among each other, to find something common in others that may form the base of a unity, they formed society. As they collected together, working and living together, they created art, poetry, and music, forming the results of their culture. What exactly brought appeal or created interest was their culture, while the songs and the paintings were just its products. So the true culture of a people cannot be defined by its best painters and writers, but by the unique attributes of these artists that allowed them to gain popularity among their fellow men. The intercourse of these shared interests among a collective of people may be defined as the society of the people.

    What of virtue?

I walked down the cold, harsh streets of a city that had forgotten that liberty was the mother of order. A city that had the highest yearly murder rate, comparable with the death toll of some civil wars, accompanied by the most unforgiving police brutality, coupled with ancient legislation that had never been removed. Trekking through the darkness of night in a war zone, humping everything on my back that I owned, maybe twelve pounds. “You want me to carry anything?” she asked. “Here,” I handed her my trench coat. “That’s sweet — you gave me the lightest thing,” she said. She was beautiful and I felt that every time I remembered her, I would think that I fell in love with her. Maybe it was because we were honest or had to cling together for unity. But I remembered her as someone I cared about.

    What of meaning?

I had been told by everyone that college was such a radically different place that high school. Only several weeks here, and I decided that it was “High School, Part 2: Indoctrination Continued.” Yes, there was a campus, and you slept right next to your school. So, by the age of 18, you were given some responsibility. But freedom of speech was a joke as I noticed my anti-police brutality posters were immediately torn down within two days. I talked to the local population, approached girls wearing Misfits shirts and introduced myself, asked if they liked Crass or punk. I found an overwhelming consensus among the people that in regard to politics, apathy and ignorance reign. “If it doesn’t effect me directly, I don’t care about it,” and that was the first difference between life on the streets and life as the privileged class. As a campus kid, partying and going to class, politics is a matter of discussion. As a homeless, Anarchist squatter punk, it is a matter of life or death.

    What of purpose?

As a gutter kid, I was privileged to among a society of people who would die by yourself for what was right, or who would rip you off without a second thought. But maybe not all of it was cut and dry like that. As for those whom you did learn were your family and could trust, they became everything you had. I remember walking down the pavement, looking to the glorious sky, and just thinking, “Wherever I’m going, I’ll get there somehow, someday.” Dreams and memories of having a home with a real family flaunted my mind as the darkness above swirled by the great Pacific front. I felt that there was a true blessing of society when I had my arms around a girl who said that she cared about me. Gentle finger tips slowly running the length of skin. In college, I talked to one girl for fifteen minutes, and found that she would secretly smile every time I said something witty or real. Upon departing, I said to her, “It would be fortunate if we were to have sex.” Every encounter from there on, she imagined that I didn’t exist.

    What of creativity?

It became quite evident in college that the middle class may have the wealth of gold and the depravity of the soul. Because “Politics doesn’t effect me directly” was probably the excuse of every European nation that didn’t oppose Hitler’s regime, but it is the American swastika shining forth now. People are scared to death to say what they really think, to the point where they lose the ability to think on their own. When a young teen agrees with the older kids in his school that sex is the only valuable asset a woman could provide, he may just be suppressing his childhood dreams of meeting some girl and falling in love. And so it becomes reversed when he is speaking to his girlfriend, and claims he wants affection, when the goal in his heart is sex. Scared to death to say what we want, because we’re afraid that it’ll make us look weak. The lives of this American society are based on deception. Truth is the casualty and sincerity the victim. And maybe there are some, who will say that a man is perverse if he outrightly states that he desires sex, just as there are some who will say he is weak if he outrightly states that he desires affection.

    What of hope?

Running through the ghetto, fleeing from the scene of a crime. It was just my turn was all. I had shoplifted well over $100 worth of merchandise from a store. The alarm went off, I took one look back, and ran. Just a young punk caught up in this society. In some nights from that moment, I would look desperately for one lover, and ask that she would spend some time with me, because all I wanted was warm flesh and the stars. So that maybe we can drink to the morning, and tell each other what happened to us as children that still gives us nightmares, and maybe those midnight screams will stop. We were afraid to speak our minds in a society where independence is shunned, but we had the courage to trust how we felt. We had the boldness to trust that our friends would respond to our happy memories with smiles, our sad ones with kindness — and those terrible predictions of dying alone were received with heart-felt promises of family for life. I walked up to a girl I barely knew and asked her if I could kiss her. She gave me an awkward look, but then said “yes, but only here,” pointing to her cheek. I did, and then I gave her some avocadoes that she said she loved. I only gave them to her after I kissed her, because I didn’t want her to say yes for that reason, and even if she said no, I would have given them to her.

    What of life?

College parties and nights you think you won’t ever be able to sleep. Noise volume increase. I have class in less than three hours. Oh, well… It seems like nobody here cares that by the end of tonight, American Imperialism will be responsible for another 20,000 children starving to death. The point of conversation, of meeting members of the opposite sex for matters of impressment and orgasm, it seems the point of these discussions is music, television, and other forms of mass media. Everyone likes the same artists. And if they don’t, they have a sort of patriotic hate towards them, as though the others threaten their own musicians. Among these clashings of social indigestion, I feel like an outcast, the black sheep of a family that comprises 8,000 students. Because when I read Percy Bysshe Shelley, I felt something more than words — when I watched Stanley Kubrick, I saw something more than images — and when I looked upon the artwork of any given artist, I see something more than just paper given the compliment of paint. So it seems that I detest the American culture, the heart of their definition of “creativity,” and so I detest all those values that allowed them to love such shallow, apathetic, and ignorant artworks. I may see them as shallow and heartless for their interest in artists, musicians, and poets whom have no value, no depth, but alas, I alway see them as shallow and heartless for these interests when they live in a nationa responsible for hundreds of millions of deaths.

    What of misery?

I kept tightening my jacket and my clothes. The seventeen degree temperature had gotten to me. A hardwood floor and a sheet (”blanket”) was all I had. I kept tightening. Finally, with a heart that understood the meaning of cold, I passed out. But it last for only several hours, and I woke up sleep deprived and with misery. That’s what I had to face as a homeless gutter, as a homeless kid on the streets, with no future, and no past. We listened to unpopular music, made up our own poems, and gave the unobserved walls our own artwork. We made a culture out of homelessness, a life out of our misery, a society out of outcasts and dissidents. We took everything that was held for granted by the privileged class, and destroyed it. We based our lives on nothing but contempt for the fact that come sunrise, we would be in prison or dead. Every night, we made a promise to ourselves, that we would never give in to a society that loved beauty more than emotion — to a society that would be more concerned with the wealth of their superstars than the starvation of their children. As the memories of friends rolled back in the form of dreams, my body kept decreasing in temperature. I woke up cold. There is no way to describe it. Brushing your hand past your stomach to feel the most bitterest cold. And somewhere far away, I’m sure that someone said a prayer that their favorite movie star wins the Acadamy Awards. Thank you, Jesus.

    What of truth?

I drank myself into the worst intoxication. Next morning, I would find myself in a pool of vomit, but that would be next morning. For now, I was forgetting where I was. At a university, with frat mates. Kids who thought they were punks. I hated every thread of their soul. I put on some music, some Against Me!. And as the rhythm went through my body, it felt like everything else did, too. Chugging vodka. Just make it so I can’t see. Because now I was in a land where I had to be inebriated to be happy. I can remember a special girl, and whenever I was with her, I didn’t feel the need to drink — I wanted to appreciate her with the full awareness of my senses. She was every girl I loved. But there were still nights filled with drugs — and those substances existed there just because they complimented life. Struggling through the crowd of people, not caring about anything, I just wanted to get fucked up. And that was the vibe these people gave off. Because the kid next to me said, “See, you should love parties — it’s all about getting pussy,” and the other one said, “Aw, dude, come on, get more shitfaced.” I was living a lie here, at this university. And it hurt so bad, because I still loved my real family, related through love, not blood.

    What of family?

I looked around this campus, and all I could see was those who were apathetic and ignorant. Both of society, culture, and politics. They didn’t mind that the music they listened to or the movies they watched was manufactured heartlessly by a corporation. They didn’t seem to care that, while they gobbled up this heartless, brutal form of culture, hundreds of thousands of people dying because of the government’s abusive nature. They wanted to live life easily, see politics in nationalistically black and white terms, see culture in simplistically popular and unpopular understanding. Society, as it exists in its current form, is a curse to the land, and an insult to the living beauty of humaneness. But society, as it exists among friends who have nothing else, is a blessing. It is the stars that make the darkness of night seem well-lit and more meaningful than that of a well-lit day.
